No harm in looking.

For my blue-eyed boys

by LisaMay

My optimistic eye
catches a sight to delight!
Another blue-eyed boy is passing by.

What a guy!
Oh me, oh my, I think I’ll die
of love so thwarted,
my passion watered
by tears of neglect.
I am love’s reject.

He turns to look.
If I’m not mistook,
his eyes are green,
maybe aquamarine…
so serene.
A bluey green like I’ve never seen.
A greeny blue of the ocean’s hue.

Could he float my boat,
cross the deepest moat
in any weather
if we were together?

When I have a blue-eyed boy,
expecting joy from my latest toy,
he lets me down
and makes me frown.
Should I try brown?

Possibly, maybe, perhaps
I muck it up with chaps
because I’m fixated
and get so elated,
my pupils dilated –
but end up frustrated.
Love’s so over-rated!

This boy with the green eyes
looks at me with surprise.
My heart leaps like a deer
as he draws closer,
near.

My eyes look black – he turns his back.
Now they are red as tears I shed.
Boo hoo, boo hoo.
Oh, happy ending, where are you?
Where’s my darling with eyes of blue?
