Lord please remove from me
this burden that I carry.
I know not how to make it go
nor stop the pain when it tarries.

I want to be a better saint
and do good to all I meet.
But my door stays closed
and here I sit, my mind grieving.

This darkness I have felt all my life
won't leave me on demand.
Lord what I need once again
is your healing hand.

The darkness takes away any joy
I might have found,
leaving me to stand alone
on this unhappy ground.

I know a time will come
when I will see you face to face.
Preserve me Lord until that day
when you welcome me home by grace.
