Modern Sonnet: Friends

by sunnilicious

A friend will accept you for you...
It could be the best times in life,
Or worst than a contagious flu;
Where memories are to be rife.

Friendships are to be sincere...
Trust builds when we listen and talk
We laugh, We cry, We do not sneer
And respect means we do not stalk.

A friend appreciates with time...
They grow as a support system
And how quickly life seems to chime
As we grow with love and wisdom.

It is a great thing to have friends
That are with us until the end.

I read that sonnets can be written with 12-syllables per line, 10-syllables per line or 8-syllables per line. I decided to rewrite Friendships in a sonnet format of 8-syllable lines in abab-cdcd-efef-gg format. It was an unrhymed Minute Poem that I wrote during National Poetry Writing Month 2019, Day 29 on 04-30-2019. I plan to attempt completing the writing a 10-syllable per line Sonnet and (a traditional Shakespearean Sonnet) 12-syllables per line Sonnet during the month of May. I am unsure what the subject will be but stay tuned. I suppose it's considered a personal challenge.
