In times of darkness
A shroud of comfort wraps itself around my troubled form
transporting me to other realms of peace I dearly crave
in need of finding refuge or some respite from the storm
I feel akin to tiny boats traversing giant waves
Transporting me to other realms of peace I dearly crave
I curl up like an embryo unwilling to be born
I feel akin to tiny boats traversing giant waves
and being tossed about while all my sails are ripped and torn
I curl up like an embryo unwilling to be born -
not unlike a frightened child on his first day at school -
and being tossed about while all my sails are ripped and torn
I'm so afraid...I'm so afraid! Why is this life so cruel?
Not unlike a frightened child on his first day at school
in need of finding refuge or some respite from the storm
I'm so afraid...I'm so afraid! Why is this life so cruel?
A shroud of comfort wraps itself around my troubled form...

Faith Poetry Contest contest entry
I'd originally written this as a traditional rhymer for the contest, but decided to change it into a Pantoum after the voting ended. This is my second go at that form, and I'm enjoying it! Hope you do too if you happen to stumble across this...
Thanks for reading!
