The death of a police officer

Silent Tears

by poetwatch

Image result for police officers in morning

Sorrow, the tears of broken hearts,

The pain we all try to hide.

As a shot passed by her ear,

Her partner fell by her side.

No time to hesitate,

For death does not wait.

The officer stopped the killer’s progress,

But for her partner it was too late.

Everyone came dressed in blue,

In this sadness there is rain,

A child without a father,

A wife feeling unjust pain.

The line of tears is long

As we salute our brother this day.

Tomorrow, we will work the streets.

Today, with silent tears, we pray.
