A complicated relationship is difficult to end.
Relationship Prisoner
by Lance S. Loria
I'm dating someone (over five years). In May 2018, I suggested it end. She became emotional. It's complicated: (a) she has no financial support; and (b) her ill mom and brother live with us.
In June, her grandmother died. The funeral was delayed until July.
Meanwhile, her mom's condition worsened. Cancer was diagnosed. Medical complications delayed chemotherapy until January.
There's an on-going custody battle with her ex-husband. which I've supported with time and money.
I'm suffering blood pressure swings from relationship, medical, and custody stresses.
My heart won't end things although my brain screams otherwise. I'm a relationship prisoner.

Writing Prompt In 100 words, or less, write a short story--not necessarily a flash-fiction, though it could be--on the theme/subject/topic of 'prisoner'. It could be literal or metaphoric. |
