This work has reached the exceptional level
I will NOT stop for dessert. (repeat over and over)

Just Dessert?

by A. Willow Bends

decided time to get off the couch
try to get myself physically fit
my husband, an exercise expert
his eyes, oh how they lit

joined a health club, faithfully go
surprising, mostly to me
my self-esteem rising, my weight reducing
I can tan if I want to for free

easing into the weights, I am
notice changes from top to the ground
jeans are bigger, baggier, saggier
I'm in love with the treadmill, I've found

but while I am on it, I can't help but see
the foot traffic from the front glass
many go left, many go right,
many look in as they pass

for on the right is a sub sandwich shop
to the left is a Chinese buffet
I want to jump off of the treadmill
and jog OUT, left or right, either way

NO! I won't.

I'll faithfully stick to my goal, my plan
knowing only my own feelings I'd hurt
Maybe, just THIS time, maybe just ONCE
I'll stop on the way home . . .

Tempting, but I have not yet succumbed to the temptation to stop for dessert afterward. While on the treadmill, when I am bored, I try to count how many people are going into the restaurants on the left or the right to see which restaurant is winning.
WAIT! I am winning. Thanks to avmurray for the perfect dessert picture!
