Seen at the Post Office

by Bill Schott

The scene opens with two humanoid octopuses waiting in line at a busy post office.

Octo 1: I wish the line was moving faster.

Octo 2: Right? I just came for stamps.

Octo 1: I'm sending a care package to my son.

Octo 2: Is he the one who anchors the evening news?

Octo 1: No. This one works with the circus.

Octo 2: No kidding. What does he do there?

Octo 1: He dresses up like an elephant and gives kiddie rides.

Octo 2: That would be something to see.

Octo 1: He was featured on the local news. I think his brother produced the piece.

Octo 2: Is the circus in town?

Octo 1: Yes and no.

Octo 2: What do you mean?

Octo 1: He is here with a couple clowns as an advance advertisement for the shows.

Octo 2: Are they octopuses too?

Octo 1: Of course not. Who would hire an octopus to be a clown?

Octo 2: Are the clowns humans?

Octo 1: Cuttlefish.
