Rainbow is an arch, and not a bow, but so what.

Misnomer

by HarryT

Rainbow is a misnomer, but I don’t care
When I look through God’s misty curtain
I don’t see a fancy bow. If it were so, the ribbons of
Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and quiet violet
That reel across the expansive sky would gracefully
Loop, curve and curl about within themselves, but they don’t

If it were so, a rainbow would appear like the
Elegant topping on a precious gift; however,
When I peer into the sky during a soft falling rain
I see a flowing arch backlit by dancing sunbeams
In the 11th Century in old England the term for this sky beauty was
Rainarch, which in reality is a more accurate description

But I must admit I prefer the artistic to the accurate
An ancient description of IRIS, the goddess of the rainbow
Casting her royal wand across the spacious sky
Spreading the colors of the rainbow delights the imagination
