Nothing Left to Give

by LisaMay

I was crazily putting in

while you were taking out –

off my empty trolley

20 Syllable Poem contest entry

Recognized

"Off your trolley" is an informal British English expression meaning to go a little bit mental, to behave irrationally, much like "off your rocker".

The poem is meant to show that if you give too much in a relationship, trying to make things right, and it is not reciprocated, eventually you will have nothing left to give and the imbalance of the relationship will leave you sucked dry and unstable. (Unless you cope by having unlimited resources of one-sided generosity and a predilection for masochism.)
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
