Playing Fiddle

by Clockwise

Please don't wear me out
playing fiddle.
I've got on the wrong pair of shoes.
Let's just sit here at the bar,
soakin' up this steel guitar,
and drink away our honky tonkin' blues.

I've gotten kinda soft
in the middle.
It's a muscle that I hardly ever use.
So let's just stay here and relax,
while we loosen up our slacks,
and laugh at all the fools there on the news.

Once I was a wiz
solving riddles.
But nowadays I just can't buy a clue.
So please don't make me guess,
at what's hiding 'neath that dress,
or what it is you're hoping I might do.

Please don't wear me out
playing fiddle.
You fiddled when you promised you'd be true.
I know you fiddled in the past,
so now we're here--I gotta ask,
are you fiddling with somebody new?

Fiddling like we used to do?
