An old friend had a birthday so I said "Happy" on facebook
It only took a minute, I tell you that's all it took
I hadn't seen him in many years, we no longer really chat
Our friendship is now electronic, what do you think of that

My car won't start in the morning, the battery is a really low
I want to go somewhere, but there is no place to go
So I'm sitting here writing this poem with whatever comes into my head
These useless words coming out, make me wish I stayed in bed

I could dream up some fancy verses, that might even impress you
But I have to trim my toe nails first, that is what I have to do
I might even take a shower, there are dishes in the sink
I gotta take out the garbage, my kitchen is starting to stink
My kid is making a mess, with food he is gobbling down
Nothing like a hungry child who throws his food around

I guess it's just one of those days, I guess
Not much to say, but my house is a mess
My car won't start, my toe nails are long
I still need a shower, something is wrong
The dishes are stacked up too high in the sink
With all of the garbage my kitchen does stink
That kid of mine is now covered in food
He'll shower with me, that's what we will do


So I do have to say now, farewell to all
There is work to be done, I hear it's beaconing call
