Fire Flower

by Miss Sherry

Thought passion was a long-lost thing,
stored in drawers with clips and string
As dried as petals on forgotten flowers
or fruit that sits uneaten until it sours

Stored away without an ounce of remorse
age and abuse had withered its very source
So solace became an ocean of bitter tears
having no hiding place from constant fears

Then bantering words bandied about in fun
brought out the warming of a forgotten sun
sending its rays deep inside frozen caves
where an imp of pleasure wildly misbehaves

Passion flowers take root, bloom once more
joy and rapture open a long-closed door

Inspired by my favorite song, "The Rose"
