It started with a kiss

The weather was splendid, and class had just ended,
I asked a cute classmate whom I had befriended,
If she might agree to have pizza with me
At a place just off campus named Pizza Capri.
Her answer was yes, and no words can express
My joy and excitement, though I must confess,
I hadn’t a clue at what next to do
As we started to walk along 10th Avenue.
We strolled through the cold, I was feeling quite bold,
So I reached out my right hand, her left hand to hold.
And then this young miss and I shared a kiss,
A magical, wonderful moment of bliss.
Then many more kisses, and many more blisses,
Led to that cute Miss becoming my Missus.
And now we’ve been married for thirty-five years.
We’ve raised seven children, they’ve now launched careers.
And all of the good times, the laughter and tears...

...Might well have been missed,
   If we had not kissed.
