Entry for Days Poem

Kitty's Adventure

Behind the rock he watched with eyes ablaze
as chipmunk stood and boldly met his gaze.
"You' cannot pass”

Do they not know that rodents aren't allowed?
Perhaps they'll run if kitty just meowed.
"I will harass!"

Unfortunately no one moved an inch.
And even when he hissed they did not flinch.
"Now don’t you sass!”

Exterminator might be what we need
to put an end to impudence and greed.
"Perhaps some gas?”

But suddenly his master called his name.
When lunch is done they will resume this game.
They left en masse...

A "Days" poem consists of two or more tercets written in the following format:

A couplet of iambic pentameter followed by a four syllable line in iambic.
The couplet must rhyme.

Each four syllable line must rhyme with the subsequent four syllable lines in every additional tercet.

10 syllables--a
4 syllables---B

and so forth

It's called a "Days" poem because there are 24 syllables in each tercet. 24 hours in a day, 24 syllables in a tercet
