Knowing scripture may gain you awe and respect--
If such is your quest, then polish your breastplate.
Nothing comes of words filling a chasm; it's still empty,
Despite the brief warmth of the sudden breeze.
Nor do grand edifices, left empty when it's cold,
Endear you to a document professing love.
Sympathy for the least, so says the book.
Sycophants will ignore … for mercy costs them.
