it is the night of treats
sugar, empty calories

the garden awakens
the pepper dances
a tomato runs
while corn laughs loudly

the happy veggies
chase frightened children
shouting we are the ones
full of good things

the pepper increases in size
while the corn kernels fly
hitting small witches,
a Jack-o'- Lantern is appalled,
he chases the gang of
vitamin C and falls
over a cliff

throughout the night
as the moon scowls
fruits and veggies
dance and sing
vampires hide
ghosts fly away
a healthy Halloween
