Excellent
Not yet exceptional. When the exceptional rating is reached this is highlighted
Overcoming the loss of a wing

Cuddling Cockatoos

by persevere

A Sulphur Crested Cockatoo
Sadly into a car she flew
A broken wing assessed by vet
His advice was to amputate

A Wildlife permit was obtained
Adoption ensured, her life maintained
In a cage beneath some trees
She fed visiting birds with lettuce leaves

One such guest, more frequent than most
Sat on the cage his stature to boast
In courting mood he eyed the latch
Tamper proof but a plan he did hatch

Fired with devotion he opened the door
Talking, grooming and much more!
Somehow he reasoned she could not fly
So abscond with her he did not try

Family of the Dad to be
Flew around, the bride to see
Dad dug hole, with tunnel short
And Mum laid eggs in that resort

Mum and Dad took it in turns
To incubate eggs for good returns
Actively on guard, Dad was aggressive
In his paternal role he was very assertive

This Queensland story of true love
Produced two little balls of fluff
Their parents fed them with impunity
Till they reached maturity
