A Grandmothers Love

by Sandtana Kay

I loved you then,
as I love you now.

Without conditions,
without demands.

Thou I cant see your face
or hear you voice
my memories remain.

I cried when you were taken,
tears that broke my heart.

On your return
you hardly knew,
the raw pain I had for you.

Your memories had faded,
while mine remain.

Although you have grown,
my love is the same.

Now memories are all
I have of you,
for time has taken
mine from you.

Adoption causes pain to everyone who loves a child, but, has no control over the situation.
