Katydids

by LIJ Red

The Katydids are loud tonight
no stars in sight;
a summer rain
brings back the pain.

I loved her so, but then she died
and so I cried
but passing years
dry up the tears.

The endless time the world will last
wears out the past.
We move ahead
beyond the dead.

Minute poems have sixty syllables in three stanzas, 8/4/4/4. Rhymes are aabb ccdd eeff. Beat is mostly iambic.
