Crying Myself to Sleep

by fm wright

Those awful words which keep resounding in my ears;
bringing forth another round of tears,
and as I lay here sobbing in bed
reliving the words we each said.
So while I continue to weep
I again end up crying myself to sleep.

Another argument no one can claim they won;
for when it was all over and done
neither of us had reason to brag:
as on both sides the tongues did wag.
That's why I continue to weep
and again end up crying myself to sleep.

In the future I have set as my major goal
to learn how to regain self control.
Gathering my thoughts before I speak
so I'll be strong instead of weak:
that I may not break down and weep;
then there'll be no more crying myself to sleep.
