Summer Days with Jaime

by RodG

Tranquility is what I sought
those summer days I spent with you
just drifting on that azure lake
in my old tangerine canoe.

You were my buddy, closest friend,
who understood my many moods,
like when I'd wish to just observe
without a word the clouds and woods.

Sometimes we paused to cast a line
in shadowed inlets near the shore
or paddled up some placid stream
where currents moved us sans an oar.

On many jaunts we'd glide along,
our lazy strokes the only sound.
But if I yawned, you'd make me sing
'bout beers on walls, that horrid round.

A single summer did we share
that special something--harmony.
With you I found what I did seek,
true friendship and tranquility.

Round; in music, a song that repeats a verse repeatedly. Remember NINETY-NINE BOTTLES OF BEER ON THE WALL?

I introduced Jaime in a poem titled JAIME just over three years ago. See page 7 of my Portfolio.
