Prodigal Writer

by Rdfrdmom2

My muse has returned home
I'm happy to say
giving me the words
I'm writing today

When asked where she'd been
she just chuckled and said
I didn't go anywhere,
I've been right in your head --

But you just stopped listening
to the message I gave
I felt so abandoned
like I was in a cave

I knew, like a prodigal
one day you'd return
and I'd make you write so fast
your fingers would burn

So try to keep up with me
if only you can
and never neglect me
not ever again

I have really struggled to get back in tune with my writing muse after returning to fanstory after an (unscheduled) almost 2 year absence. I was catching up on one of my devotional studies after church today when the words just began spilling out on paper. The above is what my muse had to say about the situation. A special thanks to teacap for allowing the use of the picture, "Lost." It reminds me of my mind when my muse does not appear to be around. Thanks for reading.
