Who was the real monster in the story?

Frankenstein Monster

by RodG

That being I created there,

whose deformed body's badly flawed,

decreed a monster by townsmen,

is doomed to die 'cause I played God.

What knows he of morality,

the codes by which we live our lives?

A man-child with a corpse's brain,

no single memory survives.

I robbed the graves, ransacked the tombs

to find a heart, two lungs, a limb.

My covert quests the Devil's work,

I should be crucified, not him

He moans and growls, misunderstood,

a creature now condemned to die.

He is my child.  I'm Frankenstein,

and I'm the monster gone awry.
