Mirror Contest

Shattered Image

by Chrissy710

Shattered Image

A shattered Image of myself
lay broken pieces at my feet,
my vanity strewn all around
cast down in justified defeat.
.
Created pictures of myself
a mirrored image in my mind,
now gone; I'm left with only shards
my true self will I ever find?

Perhaps, look closely at one piece
my true reflection it may bear,
outer shell was self-created
this tiny mirror, find me there.

If I gaze without pretention
will then I see what it has cost
strip my make-up falsely painted
fresh face beginning; never lost.
