A big monster knocks me down

Monster

by Pamusart

She knocked me right down with huge hairy paws
while locking my legs with serious jaws
I'd tried to escape but only to find
this monster entrenched inside of my mind
She bayed at the moon while stating her case
We started to run but I lost the race
My goal at that time was just to survive
the slobbering beast who licked me alive

On top of me sat a huge St. Bernard
Her happy old tail was wagging so hard
This monster was causing squeals of delight
I knew she was mine and all would be right
I suffered some slobber dropped on my face;
all part of my dog, so had to embrace
When out with my dog there's naught that compares
to romping with her away from my cares

Her lovely demeanor quieted crowds
And calmed frightened children whom she had wowed
My Dolly had hair that tickled my skin
And drool was still hanging under my chin
I took out my towel; wiped it away
not totally gone but not here to stay
She'd always been mine 'til she was deceased
I hoped that her pain was able to cease

You see she's been dead for dozens of years
Just thinking about her calms all my fears

I had Dolly, our St. Bernard for 13 years before she delivered hip displaysia and could not defend herself. St. Bernards slobber a whole lot. Once Dolly placed several kittens into her mouth. She went around and scooped a few up. No blood showed. She then deposited them somewhere else. They were just fine but weâ??re soaking wet with slobber. Mother kitty got busy moving them again and cleaning them off. A very sweet and smart dog.

I titled this Monster because, well, just look at the size of that dog. Itâ??s a good thing she liked me. (That is not I nor Dolly)

Thank you for reading my poem
