In a world that forsakes and leaves us cold,
a glimmer is sparked--a story unfolds.

This lonely girl with serious addictions;
so strong, so smart, a walking contradiction.

Life has no meaning without the light,
her vision disappears under the cloak of night.

Deep inside self-preservation lives,
enlightening her she’s much left to give.

Cocaine, heroine, pills are her friends,
cutting hate in her arms--her amends.

This tragic child abandoned by choices,
surrenders herself over to well-meaning voices.

One dark day in a despondent depression
She gashed away at her hated transgressions.

On that day, friends covered her with hope,
They filled her spirit, sharing ways to cope.

This desperate child inspired that day,
a family of people offer a better way.

A place of help that sprang from self-harm,
Grew exponentially: To write "Love" on her arms.
