Lonely at the Top

There once was a rat who thought his niche
was to not be subtle about being rich
He thought it a misdeed most dire
tossing any of his fortune into the fire
This made keeping friends a bit of a hitch.

This poem is in the rhyme scheme of a limerick but can not be called one because it doesn't follow the syllable count.

It also had to use the words

hitch fire fortune rat subtle
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
