Every new Generation

by Chrissy710

Every New Generation

Has every generation seen?
Great change within their day.
Or has our earth just really been
A temporary stay.

I live, I breathe, I eat, I sleep
Get older every year.
If only youth could always keep
Old age would never near.

And when I go who'll really care
That I have come and gone?.
I'll take my leave and go elsewhere
New places then belong.

Sometimes I find I question why
I'm really on this earth.
We're born, we live, and then we die
What really is our worth?

I seem to want an answer straight
What purpose do I serve?
Do I just leave it up to fate?
The answer I'll reserve.

Our history books are filled with tales
Of people long gone by
They came; they saw, left their details
I really wonder why?

I do not want the rhetoric
Of man- made rules to live.
I don't need guidance from above
For none of it believe.

Some kings, wise men, philosophers
Who ruled had much to say?
But now, to us it matters not
What they did in their day.

The only time we have is now
This moment that we're in
We can't go back, and turn the page
But from today begin.
