Worn On A Special Day

I'm A Special Dress

by Boogienights

I have graceful lines, tiny seed pearls,
satin ribbons at my waist.

Every one of my stitches lovingly sewed
by someone so dear.

I have a swirling skirt to sweep the floor,
no need for a broom here.

In this cavernous hall I will make my debut.

I'm brilliant white...
Not off or antique.

My sleeves touch delicate wrists,
my lace in a pattern most unique...Her design.

I was created for joy, happy to be worn by one
whose hopes and dreams will be realized on one special afternoon.

Soon...

I I'll be stored away, wrapped up
in a box but I won't despair.

My beauty won't be forgotten,
I will appear at least once a year.

On that special date they'll reminisce,
photos of me will be taken out and admired.

As each anniversary is remembered.

I'll be there too, in the dreams of a woman...
no longer that young girl.

Who gave her heart so free.

In a box in the closet,
in photographs and memories.

That's where silently waiting...
I will be.
