I Don't Want You to Die
by dovemarie
My dear little potted palm, you have given me so much strength since I've had you. I sprinkle your leaves, I take care of you like the child I never had a chance to take care of. You remind me of Easter, a royal palm from the branches in Old Jerusalem. You are bent over, and have stopped growing, the way I feel when one of my knees gives out on me, and my life seems to have suddenly stopped. I know what I will do! I will get another potted palm, from the best florist I can find, and I will take care of both of you. Maybe if you had a mate you'd return to your growth.
