Kinda like a sonnet

Oh, the Lying wind...

by LIJ Red

The author has placed a warning on this post for language.
It cries at windows, corners moan with wind
It slaps the jaws of daffodils and roars
from bony tops of naked trees "The end
of winter comes apace, so open doors."

The lawn is greening, river's running high
the sun bejewels gusts of rushing rain
and vees of honking geese and ducks will fly
to distant northern nesting grounds again.

But I can dredge a chilling memory
Old winter's teeth can give one more mad bite
I think of March of nineteen ninety-three
when Hell broke loose one dark and rowdy night

All day and night thick clouds kept puking white
and snowed ass-deep on us by late daylight.

Recognized

The sun was bright today, but the strong winds were chilly.
Memory lane!
The snow began late on March 13. The Ides dawned on two feet of snow-in Georgia. The low on the morning of the 16th was zero F. The mill was closed for two days, yeehaa!
