The Jewels of Monterey Bay

She hides her deep horizons from the sea,
when it most plainly comes to view in dreams.
Those dreams that sailors have when they’re set free,
where seas meet skies, and creeks sift into streams.

When skies explode they throw their beaming light
upon the Orchid sea. Orange collides
with taupe, magenta creamed aqua, is quite
a radiant display. How countryside's

fall to the mercy of the rainbow's glow.
As nature's halo arcs across the moon,
and where a waiting temptress seems to know
how nature’s helpers play that righteous tune.

Here, bound to keep a hidden oath alive,
where fantasies are made to syncopate
like rhythmic tunes. Here, where all words survive
in minds left to adjust till they create.

Those words like sunset’s flames, that shoot and soar,
then dance, and sway like seagulls on their way.
These words, creating lines, are the heart’s core
in forming poet’s lines for eyes to convey.

Just here, in Monterey, a painter’s quest
to draw, and sketch a skyline melting slow,
and during this, some seagulls fly abreast
as they all silhouette in sky's aglow.

A colorful small parade of seals play
along the rocky shores. There, barking loud,
are cows and bulls just basking in the bay,
as sunshine peaks on through a moving cloud.

The evening mist intrudes on the shores,
as fog like droplets settle on the leaves,
and ferns that hide small fawns from predators,
as sunset’s poet finally believes...
