After Steven—Tessa’s fraternal twin brother—connects with Tessa telepathically and finds her location, the Breedline Covenant prepare to rescue her and take down Sebastian Crow. But before they come up with a plan, Sebastian uses his powers to create a portal and kidnaps his son Arius and Mia. When the Breedline find out they are missing, something triggers the outside alarms. While viewing the security cameras, they are shocked when dozens of Dr. Crane’s unearthly creations of Breedline hybrids topple over the gates and surround the Covenant.
Meanwhile, Thomas Carlyle—Sebastian’s twin brother—is threatened by Dr. Crane. With no other choice, Thomas lies to Sebastian and turns over Tessa and Lilith—Tessa’s biological mother—to the evil physician for research. And now, Thomas must continue to betray his own brother.
Left with no other choice, the Breedline go up against Dr. Crane’s hybrids in battle in order to defend their Covenant.

All at once, the remaining hybrid wolves suddenly turned and retreated. Jem looked beyond Steven to where Jace’s Beast was crouched into a fighting stance, waiting for another attack. The longer they stood around in the silence, Jem grew uneasy. His gut was screaming, and the hair prickled and stood up on his nape.
There was something odd and decidedly wrong with this picture. Jem was about to shout a warning when a shiny metal object came flying through the air from the rear of the gate. The round-shaped projectile caught a glint of moonlight before plummeting to the ground.
“Get down!” Jem shouted.
It exploded on impact, unleashing a sudden blast of heat and noise.
Jem’s ears rang from the explosion, and the smell of gunpowder filled his nostrils as he dove behind a concrete statue. It was a grenade, he realized instantly. Lifting his head, he peered over the top of the statue at the aftermath of the explosion. Trying to focus through the smoke and the dust that clouded the air, he couldn’t see anything, but only heard groans of pain.
Moving to his feet, he turned his eyes toward the back of the estate, searching for his brother and the others. A flicker of movement caused Jem to zero in on someone in the near distance. He ducked back down, reluctant to expose himself before determining the stranger’s identity.
Before Jem’s startled eyes, Steven staggered in front of him holding his hand over his side, gasping for air. He looked down at Jem with an uncharacteristic fear on his face.
Shit, Jem thought. He saw blood spread through Steven’s fingers and over his hand. Steven tried to move closer but started to tilt instead.
Jem got to his feet and caught him before he could pitch forward. “Hang on, Steven,” he urged, lowering Steven to the ground. When he leaned his head back against the statue, Jem got face-to-face and said, “What the hell happened?”
Steven removed his hand from his side and stared down at the dark red that coated his entire palm. A stabbing pain caused him to hiss in agony. Embedded in his side was a razor-sharp piece of shrapnel. “Dammit,” he gasped at the sight of the injury. “I got hit,” he said, gritting his teeth as he reached down and pulled the object out. Releasing a grunt, he muttered, “It’ll heal.”
As Jem quickly shrugged off his shirt and pressed it over Steven’s wound, a second grenade went off right behind them, the shock wave sending them flat on the ground for cover. Broken chunks of earth went flying into the air, along with other scattered debris that came in their direction. Jem’s face stung from the numerous small cuts. A metallic tang made his mouth water, and he realized it was blood.
He signaled Steven to stay down, only to see a masked stranger across the lawn with another grenade in his hand. At first, he thought the assailant intended to throw it the opposite direction, but, to his horror, the strange figure hurled it directly in their position.
There weren’t a lot of things in the world that could kill Jem, but being blown up was one of them. Lying face down on the ground with his brows clenched, Jem could only watch in dismay as the grenade soared high in the air like he was looking at it in slow motion, dreading the outcome when it made contact.
It happened in a heartbeat, as though his arm had a mind of its own. With his hand extended, he aimed at the flying target and sent a bolt of electricity right out of his palm. Squeezing his eyes tight, Jem gritted his teeth as the grenade exploded in mid-air with a loud crack, the sound leaving him stunned and breathless.
Opening his eyes, he blinked trying to focus through all the smoke and saw a familiar face. Jem’s wide eyes stared in shock as he watched Sebastian, and what looked like his doppelganger, dragging Jace’s unconscious body—now in his human form—across the lawn, covered in blood. Oh, God. Was Jace still alive?
“Jace!” Jem shouted.
Scrambling to his feet, in Jem’s peripheral vision, he caught sight of Drakon, Tim, and Kyle all in their human forms, lying on the ground motionless. Without haste, he extended his hand and aimed toward Sebastian. Before he threw another blazing lightning rod, he was distracted by a blurred dark image. When a black panther came into Jem’s field of vision, it lunged toward the masked man, knocking him off his feet. Jem stepped back and watched as the huge animal attacked, his large canine’s sunk into his arm tearing the flesh… tasting blood as the man’s screams echoed out in agony. As he slashed his razor-sharp claws at his enemy, Casey’s panther took great pleasure in his shrieks.
The masked assailant tried to fight back, but some laws were greater than even his Breedline power could challenge. He was facing perhaps the most powerful supernatural being he’d ever encountered.
Jem couldn’t believe his eyes. He instantly sensed the identity of the panther. Casey was a Theriomorph. But why did he keep such a secret from everyone?
When a flash of light surrounded Sebastian’s body, it captured Jem’s attention as he turned away from the carnage and refocused his eyes on Jace. No! Jem’s mind screamed. He stood completely helpless as Sebastian and his doppelganger vanished through the portal taking Jace with them.
The shimmering glow of Sebastian’s portal sparked the panther’s interest as it turned toward the light and roared a sharp growl.
“Please,” the masked man pleaded. “Please… someone help me!”
The panther shifted his focus back to him and paused for a moment, resisting the urge to kill. The Theriomorph raging in Casey wanted only one thing now: To kill its enemy. That thought pushed all others aside.
The man was struggling desperately, pulling away from him. “Don’t you understand… if you kill me, you’ll never find the others,” he said frantically. “I know where they all are.”
Casey’s panther felt the hunger for the blood of his enemy as he opened his jaws, moving closer to his jugular.
“Wait!” Steven called out. “Don’t kill him!”
Jem turned to see Steven standing, one hand clinging to the statue and the other placed over his wound.
As the panther hissed and shifted its head, an angry glint filled its lavender eyes as he stared in the direction of Steven and Jem.
“He’s right,” Jem said, keeping his eyes trained on the panther. “Casey, you’ve got to listen. He’ll get punished for his crimes,” he tried to reason with the panther, hoping he could get through to Casey. “Don’t kill him.”
Jem could see that there were pain and confusion in the panther’s eyes. A gentle peace descended on the majestic animal as it backed away from the man and then his strength began to fade. The panther was no more, and he was Casey again.
Slowly picking himself upright, the man scrambled to his feet. As he stood on shaky legs, his left arm was torn and limp at his side. Finally, his identity became revealed. It was Samuel Mercer—a Breedline traitor.
Thomas will come for me, and destroy all of you, Samuel thought. He gasped, placing his hand over his injury and faked an appreciative voice, “Thank you.”
“Don’t be so grateful just yet,” Drakon said, his baritone voice echoing from the far end of the estate’s exit.
“What the hell happened,” Tim said, his voice sounding hoarse and muffled.
Everyone turned and looked in the direction of the voice. Tim was sitting upright with his hands on his face.
“We got hit with a couple of grenades,” Jem explained. “And Sebastian escaped through the portal with his brother, taking Jace with them.”
“Christ,” Tim muttered, lowering his hands.
A groan came from the opposite side of Tim. “Damn,” Kyle cursed. “I feel like someone hit me over the head with a baseball bat… and caved in my skull.”
“We’ve got to find out where the hell Sebastian and his twin have taken Jace,” Drakon demanded. He stalked toward Samuel and shot him a murderous glare. “I think it’s time you start talking.”
He looked up at Drakon, cringing in fear. “I’ll tell you everything you want to know,” Samuel stammered. “Just don’t kill me.”
Standing naked, covered in blood, Casey drooped his shoulders and lowered his head. At first, he was afraid they’d look upon him as an outcast from the secret he’d kept from everyone. Over centuries, the Breedline would never tolerate a Theriomorph living amongst them, fearing his kind were a danger to the species.
“Casey,” Jem said with hesitation. “Are you okay?”
Hearing the sincerity and concern in Jem’s voice caught Casey’s attention. Lifting his chin, he turned toward Jem and said, “Yes… I’m all right.” Then he let out a heavy sigh and said, “Should I leave the Covenant?”
Jem’s brows clenched, his expression puzzled. “Why would you leave?”
Casey shook his head. “Because,” he paused, looking down at the blood on his hands, “I lied to everyone about being… this thing.”
“Absolutely not,” Tim interjected as he got to his feet. “You’re one of us, and we don’t turn our backs on family.”
“He’s right, bro,” Kyle chimed in. As he slowly rose to his feet, groaning in pain, he said, “You should have told us. Did you really think we’d toss your ass out just because you’re different?”
Casey shrugged. “I’m sorry. I should have had more faith in everyone. Please forgive me.”
“There’s nothing to forgive,” Tim muttered. “Come on. We need to check on everyone inside and then get answers from this bastard,” he said firmly, shifting his focus on Samuel. And then he added, “But first, let’s put some damn clothes on.”

Thomas will come for me, and destroy all of you, Samuel thought. He gasped, placing his hand over his injury and faked an appreciative voice, “Thank you.”

“We got hit with a couple of grenades,” Jem explained. “And Sebastian escaped through the portal with his brother, taking Jace with them.”
“Christ,” Tim muttered, lowering his hands.
A groan came from the opposite side of Tim. “Damn,” Kyle cursed. “I feel like someone hit me over the head with a baseball bat… and caved in my skull.”
“We’ve got to find out where the hell Sebastian and his twin have taken Jace,” Drakon demanded. He stalked toward Samuel and shot him a murderous glare. “I think it’s time you start talking.”
He looked up at Drakon, cringing in fear. “I’ll tell you everything you want to know,” Samuel stammered. “Just don’t kill me.”

Casey shook his head. “Because,” he paused, looking down at the blood on his hands, “I lied to everyone about being… this thing.”
“Absolutely not,” Tim interjected as he got to his feet. “You’re one of us, and we don’t turn our backs on family.”
“He’s right, bro,” Kyle chimed in. As he slowly rose to his feet, groaning in pain, he said, “You should have told us. Did you really think we’d toss your ass out just because you’re different?”
Casey shrugged. “I’m sorry. I should have had more faith in everyone. Please forgive me.”
“There’s nothing to forgive,” Tim muttered. “Come on. We need to check on everyone inside and then get answers from this bastard,” he said firmly, shifting his focus on Samuel. And then he added, “But first, let’s put some damn clothes on.”

Jackson Gray - He is Jace and Jem's biological uncle - Katlyn Gray's older brother. Although he carries the gene of the Breedline, he does not shift into a wolf. Only Breedlines born with an identical twin have the ability to change into their wolf. He's a medical supply pilot.

Keeping her prisoner against her will, she becomes pregnant with his twins. As she managed to escape before she gave birth, Alexander eventually kills her in a fit of rage. Returning for his chosen son twenty-two years later, he is determined to convince him to join his army. After the battle between the Breedline, the demon is finally cast out of Alexander setting his soul free. For the demon's past crimes, Alexander is pardoned and must reside in the Breedline Covenant. Praying for forgiveness, he reunites with his twin sons, Jace and Jem. As he fights to keep his new family safe, romance blossoms with Dr. Helen Carrington.
Tim Ross - He is a Breedline species and head council of the California Covenant. Angel, his bonded mate - who is a half-breed - has Tim's daughter they named Natalie, after her sister.

Dr. Helen Carrington - She is a Breedline species and a physician at the California Bates hospital for both Breedlines and humans. Later, she discovers Jace and Jem carry a gene, possibly used for a cure to stop the aging process in her species. After Alexander's demon is banished, he is pardoned for all past crimes and welcomed into the Breedline Covenant. When he meets Helen, they become bonded mates.
Drakon Hexus - He is a Breedline species. At a young age, his first bonded mate was killed by her father. In a rage, he hunts and kills her murderer, breaking the Breedline's True Law. Shunned by his Covenant and forced to live as a rogue wolf, he's promised his humanity back if he joins the Chiang-shih demon's army. After Drakon discovers the demon's plans to destroy all humans and half-breeds, he betrays him and joins forces with the Breedline. As time passes, he bonds with another mate, Cassie Chamberlain.
Cassie Chamberlain - Adopted at age two by Jace and Jem's adoptive parents after her mother abandons her. Later, she discovers she is a Breedline species and bonds with the handsome Drakon Hexus. She is a nurse practitioner, specializing in the neonatal intensive care unit.
Samuel Mercier - He is a Breedline and a council member from France that has secretly turned against his own Covenant to help the Chiang-shih demon. He and his other Breedline traitors go into hiding after the Breedline destroy the demon, desperate to seek revenge against the Covenant.
Steven Pasquale - He inherited the genes of a Breedline and an Adalwolf. He was taken from his mother and forced to endure a life of endless, painful experiments by a German physician's, Dr. Hans Autenburg and Dr. Hubert Crane. Without the knowledge of his real family, Steven finally manages to escape his captors, locating his fraternal twin, Tessa Fairchild.
