What a Mess

by dovemarie

Oh my goodness, what a mess!
I spilled a glass of water on my favorite dress
Opened letters, envelopes tossed around
Litter, clutter, nothing can be found!

Last night I opened a quart of milk,
Only to have it fly out onto a piece of silk
Books and papers half-read,
People come in and see, but nothing is said

How will I clean up my mess?
It's a pain, a problem, a distress
When I try to make everything neat,
I only end up in defeat.

Yes, I guess I'm just a litter bug,
Crumbs falling onto the rug
I guess I was born that way;
Can't think of any excuse to say

Yet I live happily in my cluttered mess,
Happy to be me, I confess
That things are right, more or less.
