She Didn't Lock Her Door

by l.raven

she didn't lock her door
a mistake she made that night
heard yelling in the house
it gave her quite a fright

noise she heard down the hall
she covered up her head
wanted them to think
she was sleeping in her bed

they busted through the door
calling out her name
Grandma get out of bed
would you come and play a game?

as she rose to her feet
a lesson she did learn
always lock the door at night
when the grandkids return

This started off with a contest. It said " to use the first line as your starting line". So I wrote this poem. Then I went back to see if I read the rules right. Much to my surprise it was suppose to be about 1000 words. Didn't see that part. So I thought about it and wondered if the committee would notice I was only about 915 words short. So I decided not to try it. And post as the poem I wrote. LOL....that's my story. LOL...love xxoo
