a litle Lancashire lass is chosen for May Queen

May Queen

by loismddavis

Harry love, have you seen the note that came home from school today? What are those nuns thinking, they want our Monica to be this year's May Queen.
What's the problem love, that will be a great honor won't it?

Where do you think the money is coming from for the gown and expensive flowers? You would think they would be more considerate, they know we have six children to feed and clothe.

Well she has been chosen especially by the nuns Margaret, so we will have to accept, we have no other choice.

Well, chosen or not satin material is just not in our budget.

She has been given an honor by being chosen so we really have no choice in the matter.

The bloody nuns won't have to scrimp and save and deprive the other children of what they need, will they?

O Margaret, we will just have to find some way to pay for this. It is too much of a honor--I mean really, May Queen before all of the church members and the Bishop--our little Monica.

Alright Harry, is it worth giving up your pint in the pub several nights a week just so you can brag about our Monica being chosen for the May Queen?

Don't ask me to do that Margaret, don't shame me before me mates love.

Well I can't squeeze one more penny from anyplace else unless you want us all to go hungry for a month.

Bloody Church, what I do for religion.
