Daisy of hope

by Sandra du Plessis

A little seed's lost
no one even noticed
it fell into the
sidewalk crevice
where it was dark
and muddy.

After a few weeks,
a determined daisy
emerges from a crack
on the pathway.

"How did it get here?"
One asks and wonders,
if she should pick
the little flowers
to put in a vase
or maybe replant them
somewhere else?
