Reflecting Childhood wishes

Whispers of Dandelions

by Amy Rowell

Dandelion wishes aren't hard to find,
Stored inside your childhood mind.

Wishes we blew both far and near--
Were wishes we kept close and dear.

Child-like play-- dandelion dreams,
Plucked with hope...or so it seemed.

Secret dreams float in the air,
Innocent eyes filled with stares.

Wishes of dandelions in the wind
Memories worth our heart to lend.

Yesterday's dreams left behind...
Childhood wishes, still waiting to find.

Just the whispers yet remain;
Whispers of dandelions in the rain...

Wrote this many moons ago while taking a writing course. Still looking for some of those childhood wishes! Side note: the ending.... "Just the whispers yet remain; whispers of dandelions in the rain." Is referring to almost forgotten, only whispers left. They don't float in the rain. They would be beat down from years gone by.
