Foggy Morning Walk

by HarryT

Dense morning fog rolls by my front door
stepping into the vaporous sky
saunter the neighborhood, appearing
jogging apparition running by

Ambling to the school, hazy billows
enveloping the children's playground
secreting swings, slides and sand boxes
lace flowing on autumn lawns abound

Dampness soaks my sweatshirt, I shiver
sun beams sparking off window pane glass
rainbow prisms shimmer on bushes and trees
droplets glisten on blades of brown grass

Breathe the dewy air, pick up my pace,
cracks on the sidewalk go racing by
I walk my old neighborhood with a
loved pony-tailed girl I can't deny

First kiss, first love tumbles in my brain
high school games, dances, college classes
disheartening jobs that came after
success, mistakes, marriage enhances

On my back warming sun rays congeal
thinking that after all I have done
rolling mist begins to dissipate
I am one lucky son-of-a-gun
