Stop The Fight

by BeasPeas

'More Opinions, Politics & Comments' ~ 61-401-B

What vicious words can do...
divide us, me and you.
And they can kill us, too.
Over what?
Opposing point of view?
Sounds asinine, but true.

Our words are lethal tools,
to fuel unstable fools.
When hate runs rampant, rules,
life becomes a cesspool.

Politics eggs us on.
The battle lines are drawn,
and hatred is its spawn.
Civility is gone.

Citizens please unite.
Zip the lip...words incite.
Get a grip, stop the fight.
Respect will end this blight.

Today, June 14, 2017, an unstable man from Illinois, a former Bernie Sanders campaign worker, decided to open fire on GOP congress people practicing for a charity baseball game in Alexandria, Virginia. The gunman was killed, but not before wounding several people. What saved this from becoming a massacre? Majority Whip Steve Scalise's U.S. Capitol Police in attendance. It doesn't matter what our political viewpoint is, we must come together for the good of our country. I think it isn't just the citizens who are going at each other, so are the politicians. Everybody needs to go to a corner for time out.

My suggestion for a better charity baseball game would not be the Democrats vs. Republicans, BUT mixed teams--mix them all up--let them set the example for getting along with each other. Then maybe we would get somewhere.

Thank you for reading my impromptu poem about yet another hateful incident.
