Hold on Tight to Our Dreams

by mvbrooks

Too often in life the dreams I have dreamed
Vanished in the lightness of morning's light.
Should've clung tight--yet clinging can smother
Nighttime dreams that only survive one night.

The morning's mirror has mirrored my soul
Trapped deep inside my everyman's trappings
Giving my goals to an unknown goalie
Who smiled and sapped my dreams as young saplings.

Why is it a young man's hopes seem hopeless
As his hour glass quickly drains hours away?
Night brings a palette of wonders nightly
While daybreak may break night's spell with dismay.

Now's the time to improve our dream's timing
Setting forth a pace outpacing all fears.
Awake with the dream, awaken our souls
Tearing through doubt to look back without tears.
