Evil in the Rain

by frogbook

The author has placed a warning on this post for violence.
Ah, they walk, umbrellas their cover,
I need no protection, one soon will discover.
For, I am the invincible one,
Dark traveler, I'm a loaded gun.

I have the power over life and death,
Love watching the weak ones take their last breath.
The newspapers call me, simply, "The Black Cloak",
I'll not forget the day, my story broke.

They called me evil, dubbed me vile,
Said victims could be an adult or a child.
I'm a force of nature, a curse, a god!
I laugh aloud when people call me odd.

They're all just jealous of my power.
I keep my prisoners in chains for hours,
While I watch them cry and scream in pain,
The next one I'll meet tonight in this rain.

Imagine how easy the clueless one to nab,
There she is, blonde and shapely, hailing a cab.
I grab her so quickly, no time to scream,
Just a flash in a cab driver's headlight beam.

But what pulls at the cloak behind me?
As I trip, who is this apparition I see?
Through the rain, damn that meddling cop,
I feel my chest burn, to the pavement I drop.

This can't be happening, I'm immortal, I cry,
What is this feeling? I see life passing by.
I feel that I am weaker, slipping away,
No, I can't die, you'll see, I'll be back one day.

Over my body, the smirking cop stands,
"Get this dirt bag out of here", he says, so grand.
I can't move, can only look up to the skies,
The last thing I feel is the rain in my eyes.
