I take a number and wait for it to be called,
Standing there with my hands in my pockets

Until I get what I was waiting for

I stare at the places I am waiting to get to

Waiting for my instructions

Watching and waiting for something,
Waiting for something to do

Watching the ladies in waiting
Waiting around

I am waiting for the bus,
Reading the newspaper while I wait
Wondering how late the bus will be

Waiting for the doors to open,
I talk to someone else waiting there
As if we hadn't come for anything else

Long waits, short waits,
Passing the time,
Waiting in the cues of ticket lines

The delays and the traffic jams
And the waiting rooms
We sit around waiting for things to happen in
