Dreams of Ben

by lindafisher

Seven o'clock Saturday morning
And I've been conscious since first light
Cos the boy I've been adoring
Asked me out last night.
He carried home my schoolbooks
He has done all this week
Then he flashed one of his cool looks
And kissed me on the cheek.

I've fancied him for ages
It's just the way he looks
His name is on the pages
Of all my homework books.
I've written it in pencil
I've written it in pen
I've even used a stencil to print out B.E.N.

My best friend says he's ugly
My sister says he's fat
But I tell them all quite smugly
That I like him just like that.
So what if I was pretty
With an aristocratic voice
And I lived in a big city
And I had a wider choice
Would my heart still send me reeling
For someone just like Ben
Or would I only get this feeling
For boyfriends over ten?
