A chapter in the book Robin In The Planter

The Robin in the Planter

by BeasPeas

robins paired in love
circle sky above
searching for a nesting site

on a branch way up high
cock hovers nearby
till hen spies a spot just right

deck planter it seems
fulfills all her dreams
amid bright yellow flowers

I hide from her eyes
to and fro she flies
with beaksful of fluff for hours

she toils through the day
weaving sprigs of hay
shaping them with her feathers

this place chosen well
where blue clutch can dwell
protects from rainy weather

a bonus for me
soon new chicks to see
until they fledge and take wing

meanwhile I'll enjoy
try not to annoy
hatchling robins born this spring

Just outside the atrium door, a robin has built her nest in a planter. A beautiful thing to watch.
