A Soul

by mfowler

a single cell splits
a world of life evolves
a God particle?
Intellect says there is no soul. Can't see it, yet priests and poets try to describe it. Can't explain it. Scientists haven't been able to isolate it. Yet, through time immemorial, vastly diverse cultures, and religions of complete opposites, humans have declared the soul as part of being. Perhaps, it's the desire of ego-centric man that we be set apart, have a purpose, a spirit that looks beyond death to a future we deserve. Or, it may be simply a fable of enormous self-delusion, that convinces us we are special, and who's to argue other than those with a declared 'soul'.

Beyond such speculation, perhaps the soul is what many say it is, God reaching out through magnificent communication, telling us that if we believe, we know the soul is part of our human story, our inheritance. Or, maybe it is the universe within all living things.

universal soul

My entry into the recent Soul Writer prompt missed the deadline so I thought I might post it any way.
