Pride & Spirit

Book III – We Lived, We Loved, We Lost

Dedicated to:
Lone Walker & Candace

He Who Walks With Pride,
When at first I saw your brown eyes
it felt as if you looked into my soul
as you stole my very breath away.
I saw no color of skin,
no harshness of bigotry,
just a sweet, gentle man;
your smile stole my heart,
as your arms held mine in love,
and no matter the odds against us,
it mattered not, as we stood united,
echoing vows of forever and a day.
When adversity and pain descended,
our world shattered into millions of pieces,
and a flash of self-doubt caused my hesitation,
as I pondered—could our love sustain?
You erased all uncertainty.
She Who Walks With Spirit,
My love will always be unyielding
just as the winding river flows,
and the breeze caresses your face.
Throughout time, cast-out all improbability,
I’ll always be true to you, our family,
as hand in hand, we walk life’s journey,
because apart, I’m less than whole.

Before you came into my life,
darkness masked my heart
within the bitter taste of bigotry,
imagining my life’s journey—alone.
Light filled my world with your smile,
lifting my soul, freeing me to love,
in more ways than I thought possible,
as your ever-constant spirit soothed,
and continued to feed my pride.
I shunned all others who dared use their wiles,
or ply contemptuous ways to separate us,
because the day I made you my wife,
our souls merged as one in life,
for all of eternity.
He Who Walks With Pride,
Although we have lived, loved, and lost,
I feel your love soft as a kiss upon my lips,
and never again will I doubt your devotion,
though mockery may still come our way.
The Great One tells us not to forget our loss,
and allow love to shine through our heartache,
that we must cherish our three little miracles,
knowing their brother lives within them.
When I look at you, feel our love,
I glimpse eternity in your eyes,
feel your passion as your hands love me.
I know your essence will carry me beyond this life.
He Who Walks With Pride,
Take my hand and lead me where you will.
She Who Walks With Spirit,
Come, destiny is ours—forever and a day.
