A letter and diary poem.

Always ill.

Ever since we got married,
one or the other dropped ill.
I used to tease Robert,
and a neighbour that it
was age related.

After he had an operation for
stomach cancer, about
25 years ago, he got ill
more often.

At about the same age,
I am mostly ill, and he fortunately
is not most of the time.
Sometimes I wonder if
God has had it with me:
punishment
