Dinosnore

by giraffmang

Christian sat in his classroom
Looking very bored
When he heard a great big roar
That could not be ignored.

His head shot up
His eyes opened wide
Everybody heard it
And scampered off to hide.

Christian leapt up off his chair
And ran out of the door
He paused in the playground
To try and hear the sound once more.

It was coming from the park
Rushing through the trees
He sprinted over the grass
With his trousers round his knees.

And the trees they parted
And it lumbered into focus
A great big old dinosaur
It was a diplodocus!

Christian was so excited
He could feel it in his core
But he was not frightened
Because it was a herbivore.

Christian couldn't believe his ears
Nor that which he could see
A beautiful diplodocus
Munching on a tree.

Then he heard that great big roar
And it was getting nearer
A blur of movement to his left
Suddenly became much clearer.

It was so very tall and scaly
With big sharp razor teeth
It leapt upon the diplodocus
Trapping it underneath.

Now Christian froze in horror
In case he would be next
On the dinner list
For the tyrannosaurus rex.

This one was a carnivore
Oh yes he liked his meat
He would gobble up Christian
Even his smelly feet!

The T Rex saw him standing there
Little Christian all alone
T Rex looked at him
As a dog looks at a bone!

Christian ran and ran and ran
Back towards the school
Hoping and praying
That T Rex was already full.

T Rex roared and followed Christian
Faster, faster, drawing near
Christian made it back inside
And gave a little cheer.

T Rex looked through the window
And spotted Christian there
Hiding in his classroom
Underneath his chair.

T Rex broke the window
And pushed his head into the room
Snorting loudly at Christian
Who was filled with certain doom!

And then the bell rang loudly
And Christian gave a jump
He had fallen fast asleep
What a little, lazy lump.

There was no diplodocus
T Rex was never there
Although his trousers had slipped down
To show his underwear!

Christian was very relieved
He liked his dinosaurs in a book
He was not bothered any more
With getting a better look!

Out in the playground
Christian read his book some more
Until from deep inside the park
He heard a deafening roar.

And then he ran inside and hid!
